What does logo mean to you?


Generally, it is a symbol or icon that adopted by an organization to identify its products, uniform, vehicles and etc. There are seven categories of logo which are emblems, pictorial marks, logotypes, lettermarks, abstract logos, mascot logos, and combination logos.


Let's observe each categoery:


1. Emblem Logos


The oldest types of logo design. Based on think of seals, crests, stamps, prestigious school logos, or government agencies. Commonly features text, a symbol, or imagery inside a geometric shape. Deliver a traditional feel to your brand. Bringing richer elements in detail than other types of logos.

2. Pictorial Logos

A pictorial mark logo is an image reduced to its simplistic meaning. It has been extremely representative, containing elements that will make your audience associate it with your brand.


Such a big name, like Starbucks, had two kinds of logos, it changed from an emblem to a symbol over time, only after the company became established on the market.

3.  Logotypes

We could say it's the most powerful types of logo design. The definition is simple. Composed entirely of the company’s name. There's no symbols, graphic patterns, or emblems and the main feature of the logotype design is typography, the best choice is to have a font that's specially designed for your logo.

The identity of your brand creates by whole style and colour of the font's. It is creating uniqueness through the fonts onto your brand. The main reason why it's simple but powerful is, it helps people make the connection between the logo and the brand in an instant.


4. Lettermarks Logos

Lettermarks or basically monograms are a cool way to reduce your brand’s name to an acronym. It just takes the initials from each word of your brand name, and here's your logo.


The only thing you have to think is typography. All you need is creating up with an eye-catching and unique fonts with these few letters.

5. Abstract Logos

Next on the list is the abstract logo, there's no letters but image. It's represent the feeling that you want your brand to evoke in visually.

It might be a lil bit risky if you are new on the market because not everyone could interpret in the same way.


However, with a great strategy behind, your logo will stand out differentiate from all competitors out there.

6. Mascot Logos

It's a non-human entity that received human form or human attributes. 


This type basically creates a friendly and positive feeling towards the audience. It's delivered expressions and representations, depending on the message you are trying to convey your audience.


Most of mascot logos generally used for sports teams, food brands, or service companies.

7. Combination Logo Marks

It's a combination, or mix of multiple different types of logo design. Where you can't decide which type of logo to choose, just combined all.

Put all lettering, symbols, mascots or create a fusion between monogram and abstract which the best on your thought that you think suit to your logo. But, you have to pay attention to the message that you're trying to deliver to the audience. Because it's part of your brand identity.

The beauty of this logo type is, when people get to know you, your logo is easy to become flexible in various ways depending on the situations you need.

The most important compartment while you brainstorming the ideas is value you want to put in, how it is going to be present to the world and turn it becomes easy to be remembered.
